A while back I threw a big birthday bash for my partner Jason. We're both crazy for elaborate theme-parties, and we both have a lot of love for the 1967 Rankin Bass cult-classic, "Mad Monster Party?", so that theme was a natural. I made lots and lots of art of the occasion including tiki-style portraits of all the characters, seven foot tall totem polls, celebrity-studded pictures of imagined monster parties of the past, drink labels, gift bags and lots more. And since the characters in the film must reach the Island of Evil in the Bermuda Triangle via the dilapidated cruise ship the S.S. Herring, I created cruise ship tickets which were mailed to all the guests along with their invitations, and guests were held in a smaller reception room belonging to the "Triangle Cruises of Bermuda" company before having their tickets punched and ushering them into the larger outdoor "Island of Evil". It was a fantastic night and I got some good work out of it. Here's a selection.
